Location
Hawthorn Cottage Sunset

The views from the cottage are simply stunning. The flat fenland means you can see for mile sand the vast, open skies make for stunning sunsets. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area, especially birds, and Barn Owls can be spotted hunting as the sun sets.

We are located in a perfect area for bird watching, being close to Welney Wildfowl Reserve and the RSPB Ouse Washes. We are also fifteen miles from Wicken Fen.

Walks such as the Hereward Way can be easily picked up from the cottage door and the area offers nice pan flat roads for cyclists.

Ely is a must-visit with its magnificent cathedral and Oliver Cromwell House. It boasts riverside walks and lovely tea rooms.

Cambridge is just 20 miles away and perfect with its varied restaurants, punting and shopping. The museums, colleges and historic university buildings are also worth a visit.

Further afield is the lovely market town of Bury St Edmunds, and Thetford Forest. Or why not visit the Queen's country house in Sandringham, and the Norfolk coast is easily accessible with Hunstanton driveable in under an hour.

Take the A1101 towards Welney from the A10 roundabout, third exit coming from King's Lynn direction, first exit from Cambridge. Follow the road until you reach a chevron board at a sharp right hand bend, head straight on here instead of following the road round to the right. Hawthorn Cottage is located on the left hand side and is the second property you will come to.
